Disaster-Oriented Training

To be better prepared and trained to respond to disasters in Maryland and to meet certain Department of Homeland Security deployment requirements, there are certain disaster oriented courses that you must complete. The courses/training are offered free on line by the Emergency Management Institute (EMI) of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in Emmittsburg MD. Click here to access the courses offered on line. Then click on the course you wish to take and follow the instructions to take the course.

When taking the course you can take it at any time that suits your schedule, and return to it as often as necessary to complete the work. Upon course completion you will take an exam and if you pass it receive a certificate of completion from the Emergency Management Institute. Please send a copy of your certificate to MDSART c/o Management Alliance 8015 Corporate Drive, Suite A Baltimore MD 21236 so we can enter your accomplishments in the course completion database.

The courses are:

  • IS 11- Animals in Disasters- Module B- Community Planning-

  • IS 111- Livestock in Disasters

  • IS 700- National Incident Management System- (NIMS) An Introduction

  • IS 100- Introduction to Incident Command System-
